Students planning to study overseas should take the following steps in order, checking each box as you go.

 

  1. Become familiar with the university's study abroad policy:

    • Students must register through Wheeling Jesuit University.
    • Students will pay the cost of the host program. Payment will be made through Wheeling Jesuit University.
    • Students must consult with Wheeling Jesuit financial aid officers concerning the cost of the program well in advance of the semester in which they plan to study overseas or in Washington.
    • Students must consult their advisor or department chair concerning their proposed course of study at the host institution.
    • Students must pay a $500 administrative fee to Wheeling Jesuit University (this will be calculated in the students financial aid package).

  2. Consult your advisor or department chair to determine the destination, insititution, and courses best suited to your major and interests.

  3. Consult the study abroad coordinator for information on institutions and programs in the country which you wish to visit. The study abroad advisor will also assist you in the process of completing your application.

  4. Choose a program and gather all the available information on that program (i.e. cost, courses offered, requirements, etc.)

  5. File your application with the program or the host university.

  6. Secure the following where relevant: passport, visa, insurance.
