Wheeling Jesuit University unveiled its 50th anniversary logo as part of an upcoming celebration planned for the 2004-2005 academic year. Displaying Wheeling Jesuit's 50th Anniversary logo are from left; University President Rev. Joseph R. Hacala, S.J.; Rev. Daniel R.J. The logo and the theme, Luceat Lux Vestra (Let Your Light Shine), will be used on everything tied to the University's anniversary celebration from letterhead to banners. Wheeling Jesuit, the youngest of the nation's 28 Jesuit institutions, incorporated as Wheeling College on Sept. 25, 1954. Workers laid the cornerstone for Donahue Hall on Nov. 21, 1954. The College, staffed by 12 Jesuits and four lay professors, opened its doors to the first class of 90 freshmen on Sept. 26, 1955.
