Alumni Mentors Needed
Alumni Council teaming up with Career Development on new program to benefit WJU students.
Would you like to make a difference in the life of a Wheeling Jesuit student? You can by becoming a mentor.
Wheeling Jesuit's Career Development Office and the Alumni Council are looking for alumni who are willing to mentor current students. The primary goal of the mentoring program is to establish a network of volunteers to give career and job advice to Wheeling Jesuit students.
“Alumni Council's career development committee is working with the University to reach out to members of our family and ask that they give back to their alma mater by mentoring a student,” says Chris Hanley '81, committee chair. “You can take someone under your wing and give them the encouragement and support they need to become a fledgling professional.”
The mentoring program is not a job-placement or referral service. It strives to facilitate the exchange of information, development of professional contacts, and sharing of personal experiences and interests of not only the student but also WJU graduates.
Adriana Wolf, director of career development, says, “We have students who can benefit from the advice of career professionals, and who better to mentor our students than our graduates. This is a great way for alumni to get involved and give back to a place that has given them so much.”
