The Cardinal ladies golf team ran away from the field and won the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference golf championship that ended April 21.

Coached by seven times WV golf champion Sue Vail, the squad posted a two-day score of 799, good for a huge 37-stroke victory over runnerup FAirmont State in the 36-hole event, held at the Canaan Valley Resort.

Cardinal athletes Sara Hicks and Marissa Wiethe tied for medalist honors with 167 totals and each were named the conference Player of the Year.

Our team wound up sweeping the major awards as Vail was named WVIAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year. Fairmont State's Heather Cudmore (172) and Binki Harris (176) finished thrid and fourth, respectively, in the medal competition. West Liberty State College's Vicki Adderly (179)was fifth to complete the All-WVIAC team.
