WHEELING, W.Va. - In an effort to assist with the costs for spring formal and prom-bound young women of the Ohio Valley, Wheeling Jesuit University will hold a gown resale event, offering a wide variety of like-new dresses in various sizes and colors.

The resale event is planned for 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at Troy Theater, on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University. Gently worn gowns have been collected from employees, students and other members of the community for local students interested in shopping economically for prom or dance attire.

As anyone who has had a teenage daughter knows, prom gowns are often only worn once although they are in great (and often still close to brand new) condition after the prom. This prom gown resale is a great opportunity and a wise choice for students and families who are looking to save money and to recycle resources.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Wheeling Jesuit admissions representatives will also be present to offer tours and answer questions about the university for high school students interested in this opportunity to see the campus.

The Wheeling Jesuit Cheerleading team is staffing the sale this year and will receive all commission money made from the sale. Each gown is tagged and priced, with owners paying 10 percent commission to the organizers of the event.

“This sale has been successful for the past four years.,” said Carla Cash, IT Support Assistant and WJU Prom Gown Committee member. “and we hope to continue to grow and satisfactorily serve the area's teenage girls and their parents .”
