Wheeling Jesuit to Host Two Workshops Aimed at Improving Fundraising Efforts for Wheeling-area Not-for-profits

WHEELING, W. Va. - The Bishop Hodges Library at Wheeling Jesuit University is partnering with The Foundation Center to provide leaders of not-for-profit organizations in the Ohio Valley two free, hands-on workshops on grant-seeking and finding funders to support their organizations.

Both workshops are scheduled for Monday, April 15th from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Kief Schladweiler, Coordinator of Cooperating Collections with the Foundation Center, will lead the workshops. Mr. Schladweiler will highlight the electronic and print resources available for your free use in the Bishop Hodges Library at Wheeling Jesuit University, a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center.

“Non-profits are on the front lines of driving change and building vibrant communities. These workshops build the skills of organizational leaders to find funding and operate effectively.” Said Cindy Bailie, Director, Cleveland Office and Special Information Initiatives for the Foundation Center “They say “a rising tide lifts all ships”, and these workshops will help rise the tide of fundraising talent within the region's nonprofits.”

“Introduction to Finding Funders” Provides an introduction to the Foundation Center's comprehensive online database, Foundation Directory Online Professional. Learn how to create customized searches to develop targeted lists of foundations that will match your organization's funding needs. Participants will spend time exploring Power Search, which allows you to search across nine Foundation Center databases – grantmakers, grants, companies, 990s, news, jobs, RFPs, nonprofit literature, and PubHub reports.

“Guide to Online Grant-seeker Resources” will introduce leaders to the resources available on the Foundation Center's newest web site for grant-seekers, GrantSpace.org. GrantSpace, a service of the Foundation Center, offers information and resources that are specifically designed to meet the needs of grant-seekers.
