Remembering Vatican Council 2 On Its 50th Anniversary

The recent resignation of Pope Benedict, and the appointment of a Jesuit pope are two history-making events. Related to these events is an earth-shaking occurrence that took place fifty years ago--Vatican Council 2. Calling the Catholic Church and all Christians to make their faith come alive in the modern world, the Council represented new hope to some, and concern for others.

Wheeling Jesuit University honors the memory of this event by inviting the public to an evening of reminiscence and reflection with Dr. Joseph Viglietta, former principal of Central Catholic High School, and Dr. Normand Paulhus, professor emeritus of religious studies at Wheeling Jesuit University. In Rome when the Council was in session, these men will address the promise of Vatican 2 and its legacy. Their presentation will be in the National Technology Transfer Center of Wheeling Jesuit University at 7:30 on Thursday, April 11th.
