WHEELING, W.Va. - In an effort to help potential students and families with the expense of finding, visiting and enrolling in the right college, Wheeling Jesuit University is offering a $500 scholarship to prospective students who visit WJU from more than four hours away.

Any student who visits campus from more than four hours away, (as calculated by Google Maps), and ends up enrolling at WJU for Fall 2014 is eligible for this one time tuition break.

“We are offering this reimbursement to encourage families from afar to visit Wheeling Jesuit,” said Larry Vallar, vice president for enrollment management. “The admissions office recognizes that the cost of visiting college campus can be prohibitive, and we hope that we can help ease that burden.”

The $500 tuition break, Vallar said will take some of the pain away from the gas pump as families travel to find the right college fit.

“We are confident that once students see our campus and meet our faculty, they will want to enroll at WJU. This scholarship will make it a little more affordable to come here and get the best idea of what life is like here at WJU,” he added.
