WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 12, 2017 - The RN to BSN online program offered by Wheeling Jesuit University has been named among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, which bases its rankings on admissions selectivity, faculty credentials and training, student engagement, peer reputation, as well as student
services and technology.
“The program combines academic rigor with professional preparation, and enables working nurses to take the next step in their careers with confidence. Given our dedicated faculty, we look forward to the continued success of our students and the growth of the program,” said Dr. Robert Phillips, vice president of Academics.
The university's RN to BSN program was ranked second best in West Virginia this year and among the top 50 percent of online programs nationally.
Now in its 17th year online, Wheeling Jesuit's RN to BSN program provides an integrated curriculum of liberal arts and nursing courses designed to meet the specific needs of registered nurses who graduated from diploma or associate degree programs, which focus primarily on nursing practice.
“The strengths of the program are the integration of liberal arts courses to augment the knowledge from a diploma or associates degree nursing program, and the incorporation of communication and leadership skills necessary for nursing leaders. Offered completely online, the program allows the students to do coursework from home and complete the clinical portion where they reside, catering to the busy, working nurse,” said Dr. Maryanne Capp, chair of the Nursing Department.
