FOR OUR OWN SAFETY AND WELL-BEING

We have learned from the tragedies on college campuses recently that getting information to the campus community can significantly limit our students and colleagues exposure to dangerous situations.  Although we must rely on multiple ways of getting information, two methods that are swift and effective are the Community Alert Online system and AlertsU. 

Community Alert Online is a full-featured website that delivers weather-related school delays and closings. The website itself also offers a wide variety of emergency and safety information for Ohio County and the city of Wheeling.

AlertsU functions primarily to send alert messages via cell phone and e-mail should an emergency present itself on campus.

The effectiveness of these systems relies upon the user registering his or her e-mail address and/or cell phone number with each of these systems.  It is easy to register on-line for both of these systems so that the subscriber gets information about weather delays and emergency situations on campus.
