TITLE:  Director, Technology Transfer Programs
 
DEPARTMENT:  NTTC -  Washington Operations located in Alexandria, VA

QUALIFICATIONS:  A Bachelors degree in science or engineering studies, business and finance (with a technology aspect) or related fields, and ten years of project involvement in a technical discipline are required.  Experience in business aspects, and project and program management of advanced technology are highly desired.     Must have understanding of both technical and business issues relating to commercialization.  Must be able to identify, contact, and relate to a broad range of technologists, entrepreneurs, and business people.  Must be experienced and capable in managing people and programs and dealing with government and commercial clients.  

POSITION SUMMARY: The National Technology Transfer Center’s Alexandria, VA office, seeks a full-time Director for its technology transfer program with a major Federal client.  The Director Technology Transfer will direct technology transfer programs and projects for Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and other technology transfer clients of the NTTC, as appropriate.  Coordinate NTTC-WO staff, in cooperation with NTTC management and staff supervisors, to provide technology transfer services to selected technology principal investigators, laboratories, and companies that receive technology transfer assistance from the NTTC-WO.  Participate in professional and technical activities in the commercialization and technology transfer community when such participation has direct benefit to the NTTC’s clients and programs.

MAJOR DUTIES: 
• Insures compliance with WJU and NTTC policies and procedures.  Acts as the primary interface with clients supported by NTTC-WO and insures agreements and commitments to clients are completed in a professional, competent, and timely manner.  Engages current and potential clients to expand the technology transfer services and capabilities provided by the NTTC.
• Plans and implements technology transfer activities in NTTC-WO to include project planning and budgeting activities required by client programs and projects.  Prepares and submits required documentation to justify and receive approval for NTTC-WO programs and projects.  Responds to client requests and requirements in support of the technology transfer services offered by the NTTC-WO.
• Works with the NTTC-WO clients to retain and expand existing relationships and business agreements and searches out and promotes new business opportunities for the NTTC and NTTC-WO.
• Meets client expectations in terms of administrative requirements and work product.  For multi-year agreements, insures the justification and documentation for each yearly increment meets clients' needs and requirements and is submitted in a timely manner.
• Utilizes successful MDA Technology Application program commercialization strategies to develop similar strategies for other NTTC clients and programs.
• Plans, implements, and participates in activities and projects of the NTTC-WO in the areas of outreach, technology assessment, technology access, and others which may be underway for particular projects or programs.
• Actively participates in identifying, researching, and documenting technologies developed by the NTTC's clients that can or will lead to technology transfer and commercialization.  This includes participation in the technology transfer methodology used by the NTTC-WO for current and future clients, including information collection and use, technology assessment, and outreach.
• Identifies and develops clients and programs that can benefit from the NTTC's commercialization assistance.
• Manages day-to-day activities in NTTC-WO relating to client programs.  Maintains a face-to-face setting with NNTC-WO’s client(s).  This includes periodic visits to client facilities, and may involve some percentage of the work week at client facilities on and ad-hoc basis.
• Keep the corporate NTTC structure informed of NTTC-WO activities, progress, ad successes.  When necessary, involves NTTC management in issues which require corporate support to resolve.
• Assist the Vice President NTTC-WO as required.
