Wheeling Jesuit University is currently accepting applications for Substitute Instructors for the English Language Institute (ELI). The ELI program introduces English as a second language to international students of various backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Teachers use a variety of resources to teach pronunciation, grammar and listening in a culturally sensitive atmosphere. All applicants must possess the following:

• A bachelor’s degree (required); a master’s is preferred.
• Three (3) months to one (1) year experience or specialized training (ESL) required
• Prior experience in Education content/methodology preferred

All applicants must provide the following (preferably in one packet or email):

• A completed application (the application may be completed on-line or printed and submitted with the applicants packet of material);
• A current resume or curriculum vitae (cv);
• A list of references to include three (3) personal references and contacts at all prior places of employment listed on the c.v.

All applications will be pre-screened; qualified applicants will be interviewed. Those individuals who are successful will be notified of the potential courses which they are eligible to teach and will remain active for up to three (3) years (September 2012 through August 2015). Individuals may be called on short-notice and asked to substitute for one day; acceptance of an assignment is voluntary and refusal does not eliminate the individual from future consideration. All accepted assignments will be for one (1) complete day and compensation will be on a per diem basis; future, full-time, ELI Instructor positions will be offered first to substitutes in the ELI substitute pool.
