POSITION SUMMARY:   Assist in the care and maintenance of the campus, especially the grounds and roads. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
• A valid drivers’ license is required.
• WV Pesticide Applicators’ License preferred.
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.  
• Must have telephone or other reliable means of contact, and reliable transportation.
• Must be available for overtime work, including weekends, especially in winter weather.
• Must demonstrate competence working in a team environment and be multi-task oriented.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Mow and trim grass areas.
• Weed, edge, and mulch flower & shrub beds.
• Clean outdoor areas, including roadways, walkways, and grass areas, removing litter, leaves, and other debris.
• Plant, fertilize, water, and care for grass, flowers, shrubs, and trees.
• Remove snow and ice from walkways, roadways, and parking areas using hand and mechanized equipment, as well as de-icing chemicals.
• Assist others in the Physical Plant department as needed.
