Human Resource Generalist

POSITION OPENING:  HR Generalist                 DEPARTMENT:  Human Resources

DATE:   January 17, 2013                                 POSITION:   Full-time

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt (Administrator)             CLOSING DATE:   February 22, 2013

POSITION SUMMARY:  Perform generalist HR functions to support the Office of Human Resources specializing in compensation administration, position descriptions and tracking, and benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree and three years professional level experience in compensation and benefits; PHR Certification and HR degree preferred.
  • High level of computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Access and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities and provide accurate and timely information within established deadlines
  • Must have strong problem solving skills and pay meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in HRIS applications, ADP preferred
  • Human Resource experience required; higher education or public education experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the overall maintenance of the University Compensation System.
  • Responsible for developing, evaluating, and upgrading job descriptions within the University; interacts with the University’s Compensation Committee.
  • Coordinates responsibility for institutional surveys that pertain to HR or salaries; interacts with Institutional Research to provide support.
  • Assists with the VISA process for the University.
  • Maintains the University Position Tracking System.
  • Develops and recommends salary / merit budget.
  • Inputs and maintains compensation data on the ADP system.
  • Responsible for maintaining benefits / HRIS Info.
