TITLE:   Technology Analyst

DEPARTMENT:   National Technology Transfer Center

QUALIFICATIONS:  
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field and a minimum of 3 years of technical or other relevant work experience, or equivalent.
• Must have demonstrated ability to read and analyze technical information from a broad range of areas and to derive and communicate complex technical matters from this information.
• Must have operating familiarity with MS Office Suite software. 

POSITION SUMMARY:   Technology Analysts are required to search out and analyze complex technical reports and other forms of information across a broad range of technical fields, to manage relatively large amounts of information, and to communicate in oral and written reports.

MAJOR DUTIES:
• Quickly develop an understanding of requisite technical fields sufficient to enable determinations of particular technologies’ suitability to needs.
• Conduct online (and print) research to identify or determine:
• technologies to meet needs.
• the state of the art and outstanding needs in certain technology areas.
• Intellectual property landscape
• competing methods
• Matching emerging technologies developed through federally funded programs to the needs of the funding agencies and other federal agencies, and provides the pertinent information in a technical report.
• Interview primary research sources to obtain technical information unavailable from secondary sources and to validate information gleaned from secondary sources.
• Perform other duties related to technology analysis that may require specific knowledge and expertise.
• From time to time, perform duties to promote the effective functioning of the University community.
