1.0 PURPOSE
The purpose of Wheeling Jesuit University’s Mobile Device Policy is to establish rules and guidelines for the secure use of cell phones, smart phones, and tablets at Wheeling Jesuit University.
2.0 SCOPE
This policy applies to all faculty, administrators, staff, graduate assistants, vendors, agents, or contractors operating on behalf of Wheeling Jesuit University.
3.0 POLICY
- It is mandatory that all University-owned mobile devices that access any WJU information system or store any WJU data have an application installed and activated that includes the following features in the event the device is lost or stolen: location service, alarm service, remote wipe of data, and factory reset. Applications that meet those requirements include: Find My iPad, Find My iPhone, SeekDroid, Where’s My Droid, and Android Lost Free. It is the user’s responsibility to manage the application, keep track of the website that manages the service, and the login id and password.
- All personally-owned mobile devices should follow the same policy as listed above.
- Users are responsible for the security of all data accessed or stored on their mobile device, regardless of device ownership.
- Individuals who use a mobile device to access or store confidential/ sensitive WJU data, should also require a password or code to access their mobile device. This is a recommended best practice for all mobile device users.

5.0 AUTHORIZATION
