OUR JESUIT COMMUNITY

Wheeling Jesuit University is one of 28 Jesuit institutions of higher education in the country. The major apostolate of the Jesuit Community is Wheeling Jesuit University. The Jesuits at Wheeling Jesuit University serve as faculty, staff and administrators.  They also provide pastoral and sacramental ministry for parishes and religious houses in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, Steubenville, and Pittsburgh. 

THE SOCIETY OF JESUS

The Society of Jesus, one of the largest religious orders of men in the Catholic Church was founded in 1540 by St. Ignatius Loyola, a Basque nobleman and soldier, who found God in all things. Today, more than 25,000 Jesuits serve the Church in 112 nations on six continents.
