Dave Dennis is in his 18th year at Wheeling Jesuit University. He became the first full-time athletic trainer at WJU in 1997 and has overseen the growth of the program and the facilities during that time. He became a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) in 1992 while completing his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology at West Virginia University. He completed his graduate degree in Athletic Training at the University of Pittsburgh in 1994. During this time he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Club for the 1992 and 1993 seasons. He is a member of the NATA, MAATA, WVATA and has twice served as the Chair of the WVIAC Athletic Trainers' Association. Dave is a native of Bruceton Mills, WV. Dave was named "Athletic Trainer of the Year" for the state of WV in 2009 by the WVATA.

Joe Shaffer is starting his first year at Wheeling Jesuit University. A graduate of Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, Pa., Joseph Shaffer received his bachelor of science degree in Health Science, with a concentration in Athletic Training. He completed his Master of Science degree in Athletic Training at West Virginia University. He also completed his certification through NASM as a Performance Enhancement Specialist. Joe is certified through the American Red Cross and American Heart Association as an instructor for CPR/First Aid/AED for the professional rescuer and is lifeguard certified. Currently enrolled at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, Joe is in pursuit of his PhD in Athletic Training. He is a member of NATA, PATS, WVATA, and EATA. He is originally from Home, Pa and currently resides in Uniontown, Pa with his wife, Meghan, and son, Brayden.

Kim is in her sixth year at Wheeling Jesuit University. She completed her M.S. degree in Athletic Training at West Virginia University in 2006, where she fulfilled her graduate assistantship at Grafton High School in Grafton, WV. She received her B.S. degree in Athletic Training at California University of Pennsylvania in 2004 and worked as an athletic training student with Division III, Washington and Jefferson College football team. She is a member of the NATA, EATA, and PATS. She is originally from Johnstown, PA and currently resides in Washington, PA with her husband, Fred.

Jerry is a native of the Pittsburgh area having grown up in the city of New Kensington. He came to WJU after having spent six years in Wheeling working with the Wheeling Nailers Hockey Club. In the off-season, he was employed by both Wheeling Hospital and Ohio Valley Medical Center working outpatient rehabilitation and at CentreTown. While with the Nailers, he worked the training camps of both the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He worked throughout the season with their medical staff and the staffs of the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadians who are also affiliated with the Nailers. In 2008, he was peer-selected as the All-Star athletic trainer for the Eastern Conference of the East Coast Hockey League. He worked as an athletic trainer during the final two seasons of the Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the United Indoor Football League. He is a 2005 graduate of the WVU School of Physical Education earning a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training and a 2003 graduate of Mercyhurst University where he played football and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine.

Lauren Linn, MS, ATC

Lauren is in her second year at Wheeling Jesuit University. Prior to joining the Cardinal staff, she completed her Masters degree in Athletic Training at California University of Pennsylvania in 2010 where she fulfilled her graduate assistantship at Washington and Jefferson College. Lauren attended the University of Charleston where she attained a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2007. She competed in Track and Field for four years while attending Charleston. Throughout her professional career, Lauren has worked in the Pittsburgh area.  She worked as an athletic trainer at Lincoln Park Performing Arts School and with UPMC Sports Medicine. Lauren is also certified as a Flexband Instructor, Silver Sneakers Instructor, in CPR/AED, and as an NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist. Lauren is from Clinton, PA.

Christy is a Wheeling native and is in her first year at WJU. Prior to her start here, she spent 7 years in North Carolina high schools, both as a teacher and an athletic trainer as well as 2 years in the clinic setting. She earned a B.S. in Athletic Training and in Exercise Science from Mount Union College in 2002 and an M.A. in Exercise Physiology from East Carolina University in 2004. Christy is also a certified CPR/First Aid instructor and Exercise Specialist.
