Not all business and accounting programs are the same, especially if your degree comes from Wheeling Jesuit. Here, you will learn in a program accredited by the Associated Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) whose rigorous standards let students know they are learning what is needed to succeed.

Business

The business program will provide you with a basic understanding of the nature and purpose of business and its role in society, as well as a general knowledge of the structure and processes of business. You will take courses in accounting, finance, marketing, management and economics, among others. The program focuses on analytical skills and the constantly growing array of software applicable to business. It also addresses the dynamic global, social, political, economic and technical environments in which businesses operate. Communication, leadership and analytical skills and experience working effectively in teams are fundamental elements of the program.

Accounting

The accountancy program will prepare you for a career in public accounting, industry, not-for-profit organizations and government. You will receive sound preparation for successful graduate study in business, law and other areas. Our business faculty brings many years of professional and academic experience to the classroom. In fact, each has more than 20 years of teaching experience in higher education. Their professional experience includes positions as corporate executives, forensic economists, military officers, stockbrokers and certified public accountants. They have written books and articles for national publications, appeared on national television programs and served as expert witnesses in legal cases.

In addition to the courses from your chosen area of concentration, you will be required to take courses in business skills where you will learn through guest speakers, tours of businesses and etiquette dinners, among other ways. You also will benefit from experiences beyond the classroom by joining our award-winning Student's in Free Enterprise Club and Delta Mu Delta, the honor society for international business. You also will have the opportunity to attend a series of nationally renowned speakers, which is hosted by our own Institute for the Study of Capitalism and Morality.
