Latest News:

May 18, 2010 - Eight hard working Wheeling Jesuit Business Department students returned from Minneapolis, Minn. last week just in time for commencement. They were in the Twin Cities after winning a first place award in the regional Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) competition in April, held in San Francisco.

Caitlyn Anderson, Jose Fuentes, Valerie Grimes, Catie Halberstdt, Lindsay Harms, Bruno Paulino, Adam Pharo and Chelsea Skrzypek spent months preparing to meet other business students from around the U.S. in this annual college competition. Business professor Dr. John Mansuy is the faculty advisor of the SIFE group. Founded in 1975, Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) has grown to become one of the largest collegiate organizations in the world. SIFE teams are active on more than 1,200 college and university campuses in 31 countries around the world.

The first Wheeling Jesuit SIFE team was formed in 1997 and that year the club won regional rookie of the year and second runner-up awards. The club became very entrepreneurial and raised funds to compete around the country over the years.

Working together as a team, and through the mentorship of a faculty advisor, SIFE students apply their classroom experiences to develop and implement educational outreach programs that teach individuals in their communities the principles of market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial success and business ethics.

400 campuses competed in Minneapolis and these were selected based on which of them had the most impact improving people's lives. One team will win the honor of being named a national champion and represent the United States at the SIFE World Cup to be held in Los Angeles next October.

Competitions are also great places to network and job search for post college careers.
