Department of Computer Science

The computer scientist enjoys the challenge of finding the best way to bring people and computers together by working to make society's interaction with technology fast, simple and natural. At Wheeling Jesuit University, we provide you with a strong fundamental knowledge of computer science and the practical skills to adapt as technology changes.

Why should YOU come to WJU to study Computer Science?

First of all, the subjects you take here are about the same as those you would take at any major university.  So you might as well go to the cheaper, big state school, right? WRONG! What we offer is much more than a standard curriculum. We offer a competitive curriculum with the underpinnings of Jesuit teaching philosophies that have been developed over the last 450 years.  Added benefits are: small classes (no more than 15 and usually less that 12), individual help from caring instructors, internship opportunities at our two federally-sponsored institutions (the Center for Educational Technologies and the National Technology Transfer Center) and off campus, and the opportunity to gain work experience within our IT department.  WJU also provides study groups, tutors, and writing help through our Academic Resource Center.

Bottom line: we at WJU genuinely care about you and will go out of our way to help you succeed not only in Computer Science, but in every aspect of your college life.
