English Honors Society

image

The English Department hosts the Alpha Omicron Gamma chapter of Sigma Tau Delta (the International English Honor Society).  This society invites well-qualified literature majors and minors to become members. Membership is for life, and thus students who go on to graduate programs may find themselves already a part of another university's honors community.  The activities of the local chapter are entirely student-centered, conceived and driven by officers elected from and by the current, active society members. New members are inducted into Sigma Tau Delta each spring at the university's Honors Convocation.

Minimum requirements for invitation to join Sigma Tau Delta are:  three completed semesters of college work; at least two completed courses in English beyond the usual freshman/first-level English and literature requirements; a minimum gpa of 3.0 in English; rank in the highest 35% (in overall scholarship) of the student's respective class.
