According to the best information available, Richard Cain was born in California - but don't hold it against him! He attended Cornell University where he majored in music composition and English literature before settling on Russian and Chinese intellectual history. He has advanced degress from Duke University and Indiana University. He has worked as a reporter and editor for newspapers in Indiana, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and West Virginia. For the past 14 years, he has directed Wheeling Jesuit's Communication Program. His hobbies are music, backpacking, and deep discussions on the meaning of life. Summers he has masqueraded as a backcountry ranger and web consultant for the National Park Service in California. He considers it a bad summer if he doesn't backpack at least 200 miles.
