Dr. Normand Paulhus returned to teaching in his field of theology, the realm of Catholic Social Thought, after a ten-year hiatus as Dean/Academic Vice-President. His doctoral dissertation examined the philosophical and theological sources of the Fribourg Union, a select group of European scholars whose thoughts greatly influenced Pope Leo XIII in writing his famous encyclical, Rerum Novarum. Dr.Paulhus is the author of several articles on this subject in the Journal of Religious Ethics and in the Journal of the Society of Christian Ethics. During his recent sabbatical, he expanded his area of expertise to include the significant changes in Catholic Social Thought introduced during the pontificate of John Paul II, and more particularly his approach to capitalism.
