Core Requirements

All students are placed into a level of language study upon entering Wheeling Jesuit University. Students will fulfill their core requirement based upon their placement. These are the scenarios for core completion of French, Spanish or German:

101 Placement:  Student must complete 101 and 102 in the same language

102 Placement:  Student must complete 102 and 111 in the same language

111 Placement: Student must complete 111 or any upper-level course (200+) in the language.

Nursing, Nuclear Medicine and Respiratory Therapy majors have the option of taking SPA 106: Medical Spanish. However, true beginners may find the standard 101-102 sequence more appropriate.

If English is a foreign language, there will be no requirement to study a language other than English.
