Scholarships and Awards

The Henry R. Sutherland Award for Excellence in Modern Languages This award is given for excellence in Modern Languages. The award is named in honor of Dr. Sutherland who was a faculty member from 1965 to 1992. He taught Spanish and Russian and served as Chair of the Modern Languages Department for ten years. This award is given to the graduate who has distinguished himself or herself in the study of Modern Languages.	Rebeka Flesher Class of 2013
Alpha Mu Gamma Scholarships There are several scholarships that are available to members of Alpha Mu Gamma. Three $500 scholarships (Goddard, Indovina & Krakowski Scholarships) are available for any foreign language study. One $400 scholarship to be used in conjunction with the full tuition summer scholarship offered by Laval University (Quebec, Canada) for one month (July 2- August 9) to members of Alpha Mu Gamma for intensive study of French. And the "James Fonseca" scholarship is for $200 for the study of Esperanto or Spanish. Please consult Dr. Dominick DeFilippis for more information and an application.
WJU Study Abroad Scholarships These are available in a limited number to any student wishing to participate in an abroad experience. They are awarded on a competitive basis. Students submit essays explaining their reasons for wanting to participate and their personal and educational goals. These scholarships are available during the academic year and the summer.
Rotary Scholarships Information regarding ambassadorial and exchange scholarships are available in the Modern Language Department.
