The Program

Wheeling Jesuit University is the only institution of higher learning in the tri-state area to offer a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine.  The program is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs and graduates work closely with nuclear medicine physicians, as well as directly with patients.  In addition to completing the core curriculum, students perform a 40-hour observation period during the summer of their sophomore year, and a nine-month clinical rotation during the senior year.  The Nuclear Medicine program includes a pre-med core, and students receive a greater focus on the hard sciences needed to cover the expanding areas of clinical practice, radiopharmacy and instrumentation that drive the future of nuclear medicine technology.

Upon completion of the program, students are able to demonstrate competency in performing Nuclear Medicine imaging procedures in the clinical setting as well as assist in radionuclide therapies. Wheeling Jesuit University’s Nuclear Medicine Program provides students with a multi-faceted and superior education giving students a competitive edge in today’s job market.
