At the heart of the BOLD Degree Completion Program is a major research project.

The research project is just one of the ways the program encourages students to develop the skills necessary to allow them to take theoretical concepts and apply these concepts to practical situations in their work and personal lives.

Concurrent with the modular curriculum, students design and develop an applied research project within their occupational field or an area of interest.

The research project draws on course work, library resources and prior experience and is considered an essential component of the program.  The total project is then presented in written and oral form.

Students choose from these project options:
1. A policy proposal 
The need for a policy or procedures manual is proposed.

2. A new policy or policy change
The actual policy or procedures manual needed is created.

3. A grant proposal

Other purposes for the project are to:
• Enhance the ability to read and evaluate research.
• Develop research skills.
• Understand the value of the research project in business and management.
• Improve the skills in evaluating and implementing proposals for change.
• Refine oral and written presentation techniques.
• Develop a logical argument be using research to strengthen analytical skills.

Finally, the project is intended to create a positive change in the organization for which it is designed.
