Immersion Trips
The Appalachian Institute offers two types of Immersion Trips - Experiential Learning Immersion and Service Immersion. 
 
Experiential Learning Immersion Trips focus on educational experiences that invite participants to learn about Energy Choices, Water Quality and Public Health issues facing Appalachian Communities.  The goal of these trips is to develop an empowered educated community working together to build healthy sustainable communities by learning more about the problems and solutions facing the people of Appalachia .  The following are the Experiential Learning Immersion Trips currently offered by the Institute:

The Service Immersion Trips focus on direct service to low-income communities of Appalachia and offer participants an opportunity to work with our Community Partner Organizations in soup kitchens, home rehab services, after-school programs and other programs helping needy families in the region.  The following are Service Immersion Trips currently offered by the Institute:
