The Art Exhibit     The Art Exhibit will open on Friday, October 26th and remain in place throughout the weekend.  The main exhibition space will be in the balcony area above the lobby of the McDonough Center.     Art pieces in keeping with the Peace Festival theme have been solicited widely by the Festival's selection jury.  Those selected can be brought to the Erickson Center within the McDonough Center for safe storage on Wednesday 10/24 or Thursday 10/25 between 9:00 a.m. and Noon.  Or they may be brought for direct hanging on Friday afternoon.     There are three entry divisions:  high school, college and community.  Artists are invited to express their desire for peace and justice in the coalfields and mountains of Appalachia as well as the sands of Iraq and the Middle East.

    This is a People's Choice Awards show with first, second and third place ribbons awarded in two and three dimensional categories.  Festival attendees will cast their votes by use of a red (high school), white (college) and blue (community) token to be placed in matching color containers in front of the art works.

    Each artist is charged an entrance fee ($5.00 for high school, $10.00 for college, and $15.00 for community).  Pieces may be sold if the artist so wishes, the price to be determined by the artist, with no commission required.

    Please note this special added feature:  the top fifty pieces  (five high school, ten college and thirty-five community) will be moved to the Artisan Center in downtown Wheeling for a two-week exhibit from November 9th through the 24th.

    The pieces selected for the Artisan Center may be taken there on Monday October 29th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Those not selected may be removed from the exhibit space in the McDonough Center on Saturday evening or on Sunday between Noon and 3:00 p.m.

    Special care will be taken to ensure that pieces are carefully handled.  Wheeling Jesuit University is not liable for accidental damage which could occur.

    A limit of two entries per person will be accepted per category.  Please include your name, address, phone number and email address along with a minimum of one image, title, and/or description of each piece per entry.  Please include a check or money order payable to the Clifford Lewis Appalachian Institute, WJU.  Please note Peace Festival in the subject line.  Confirmation of your request for participation will be received within one week.
