Some questions which may occur to you. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Where is all this going to happen and when?

--In the WJU spacious and newly refurbished "Practice Gym."  This is located in the McDonough Field House, at the lower end of campus.  Setups may take place beginning at Noon on Friday, October 26th.  We ask that they be  removed by early afternoon on Sunday,  the 28th.   We request too that you supply everything needed for your project--table, electrical extension cords, special plugs, projectors, DVD and CD equipment, laptops, etc., etc.  Our maintenance people tell us that they are in short supply for such items.  Be in touch if this presents big problems for you.

Any guidelines or restrictions on what is set up?

--Not really.  We want to bring together folks who are troubled by the war in Iraq and the conditions in Appalachia.  We hope that we can help each other "connect the dots," find that we have much in common, and become the more energized by our association.  We hope that eager and friendly dialogue will help create an atmosphere of mutual respect  where even those who do not share our convictions will feel free to express their own  In a word, if we are drawn together in a common passion for peace and justice, we want to be displaying such virtues in action.

What's the difference between "Tables" and "Displays"?

--Informational Tables:  This will be the main and popular activity in the gymnasium.  We expect a steady traffic flow Friday night and especially all day on Saturday--folks displaying their wares and sharing their passion, interactive with other tables and with the general public.  So come, make your presence as outreaching as you wish, without interfering with the desires of your neighbors to do the same.  Bring lots of literature, plan to make use of CDs, DVDs and tapes.  You are welcome to offer such pieces for sale, as well as T-shirts and other dress items.  Yes, you may solicit donations, if this is part of your  non-profit existence.

--Round Tables:  These are gatherings of up to a half hour for those who have a message to share (e.g., Come join the several thousand attending the School of the Americas activities at Fort Benning, GA in mid-November) or who want to dialogue around a special theme (e.g., the benefits of a low carbon diet).  We're happy to arrange such a conversation space at scheduled times on Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis.

--Displays:  In keeping with the theme of the weekend, displays are there to be seen, admired and pondered, but are not intended for distribution.  For example, a large and striking arrangement of peace quilts will be on hand.

How do we sign up for space?

--Attached is a reservation form, to be returned electronically or by surface mail.  Please do so promptly so that we have sufficient time to set up an interactive scene and prepare for your coming.  We ask for a fee of $20.00 at the time of reservation  to handle overhead expenses, labor costs, etc.
