1967

James D. Allen, Jr., and his wife, Judythe A. (Schoonmaker) '67, reside in San Antonio, TX. James is employed by Our Lady of the Lake University as an assistant professor of social work. Judythe is a second grade teacher in the Edgewood School District.

John S. Carpenter II and his wife, Molly, reside in Mauwee, OH, where he is a professor of physics at Owens Community College.

James W. Fitzgerald, Jr., is a sales agent for Caldwell Banker Harnden Beecher in Kennebunkport, ME. He welcomes calls from those thinking about relocating to Maine.

Mary (Worthington) Forsyth resides in New Orleans, LA, where she works in the chemistry department at Loyola University.

Richard D. Gandour is a professor and the head of chemistry at Virginia Tech. He resides in Blacksburg, VA. He was elected fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1990.

Ann Grigsby retired as a section manager for Social Security and moved to Reedsburg, WI.

Judith (Hocking) Higgs is the dean of students for the West Virginia University at Parkersburg. She was recently honored by the West Virginia Community College Association for "Outstanding Contributions to Community College Education in West Virginia."

David W. Knoble and his wife, Mary (Lang) '66, reside in Tupelo, MS. He is the director of engineering technology for Thomas Lighting.

James McCaffrey resides in Pittsburgh, PA, where he is the coordinator of trauma and EMS education for Allegheny General Hospital.

Ford "Woody" Stevens, Jr., resides in Glenolden, PA, where he is self-employed for Linwood Enterprises International.

1968

Daniel J. Boyle and his wife, Margaret (Rowan) '69, reside in Pittsburgh, PA, with seven of their 12 children. He works at the St. Francis Medical Center where he is the chairman of the Family Practice Department.

Marilyn (Tuite) Gray is a seventh grade language arts and department leader for the Pine Grove Junior High School and East Syracuse Minoa School District in Syracuse, NY.

Charles "Chuck" F. Gruber, Jr., and his wife, Patricia, reside in Bridgeport, WV, with their children, Charles and Michael. He is an accountant for the Allegheny Power System, Inc.

Jeanne Isacco is the chairperson of the American Library Association Committee on Professional Ethics and is also a human resources director for Sun Microstamping.

Joseph M. Kelleher, Jr., and his wife, Maria, reside in Richmond, VA. He is the owner and president of Kelleher Corporation.

Robert L. Kohlbecker and his wife, Nancy, reside in Toledo, OH. He is the quality systems coordinator for Owens-Illinois, Inc.

Brian E. McCagh resides in Silver Spring, MD, where he is an executive director for the Washington Cancer Institute at the Washington Hospital Center. He was recently elected to the board of directors of the Association of Cancer Executives.

Mary Francis "Fran" (Bartemes) McWhorter is the commissioner for the Fairfax Area Commission on Aging and a volunteer with Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsmen Program.

Phil Rusciolelli and his wife, Barbara (Davies) '68, are currently at the US Embassy in Skopje, Macedonia. Phil is a defense attache, and Barbara is a community liaison officer for the US Army.

1969

Anne (McCormick) Adams resides in Arlington, VA. She is the coordinator of the special education parent resource center for the Arlington Public Schools.

Michael Benton, his wife, Mary Ann, and children, Joseph, Robert, Michael, Paul, Mark, Andrew and Margaret, reside in Quakertown, PA. He is employed by General Instrument as a staff engineer and is responsible for qualification tests of the Digital Cable television system and the factory liaison for the first digital cable systems to reach the marketplace.

Dennis Cashman resides in Willoughby, OH, where he is the owner and president of Dynametrics.

John E. Frere and his wife, Nancy, reside in Lisle, IL. He is the president of World Book International and Publishing. He has assumed responsibily for domestic and international publishing, as well as international sales.

Eileen Grimmer resides in Derry, NH. After retiring from NYNEX in 1995, she began working for the state on New Hampshire's Department of Health and Human Services as a technical support specialist. She has returned to school to earn a medical degree and works as a volunteer for various organizations.

Louis Hart works for Compunetics, Inc., where he is a quality assurance manager. He and his wife, Julie, reside in Milford, CT.

Jim Howard and his wife, Joan (Blandin) '70, reside in Omaha, NE. Jim retired from the US Air Force after 26 years and is now a full-time associate professor at Creighton University School of Dentistry. Joan is a librarian at Millard South High School.

John A. Kapolka and his wife, Karen, reside in Connellsville, PA. He is the lines coordinator for Allegheny Power.

Fred "Rick" King, Jr., and his wife, Sheryl, own a bed and breakfast, the English Lane, in Tolland, CT. He is a commander for the US Air Force and is pursuing a doctorate at the University of Connecticut in educational psychology.

Carol (Goleski) Reilly and her husband, Sean '69, reside in Durham, NC, with their children, Eric and Erin. Carol is a curriculum manager at the Duke University School of Medicine. Sean is in product line management for Nortel Research.

Larry Trombello, his wife, Kathy, and sons, Paul and David, reside in Tappahannock, VA. He is the chief ranger for the George Washington Birthplace National Monument and Thomas Stone National Historic Site.

Susan (Butler) Worth, her husband, Mark, and children, Jessica, Michelle, Nicholas and Goeffrey, reside in Huntingdon Valley, PA. She is the director of the student association program at Cope Centers, Inc.

1970

Ronald J. Anton, SJ., is the director of international relations at Loyola College in Maryland.

Mary (Gavin) Dalton and her husband, Arthur '69, reside in Woodbing, MD. Mary is the vice president of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc.

William F. Dunn is an attorney, as well as the president of the Sam Luis Valley Bar Association, a private pilot, and has completed climbing all 54 mountains over 14,000 feet in Colorado.

Joan Kreyenbuhl, SSJ, is the vice president of mission and ethics at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, WV.

William J. Pearl is a clinical supervisor for Hancock-Brooke Behavioral Health and has been elected to the board of directors of WV Mental Health Counseling Association.

Veronica (Domsic) Riffle resides in Westlake, OH, where she is a middle school science teacher at Lake Ridge Academy. She completed her master's degree at Cleveland State University in 1996 in curriculum and instruction and secondary science.

Theresa A. Ryan-Szott is the assistant principal student services for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She resides in Southampton, PA with her husband, Walter, and children, Jon (10), Katie (12) and Lara (4).

Theresa M. (Purpura) Schmitt, her husband, Edward, and children, Edward, Jr. and Bradley, reside in Wheeling, WV. She is a teacher at St. Michael's Parish School.

E. Lawrence Seidl is the president of Seidl Appraisal Services in Annapolis, MD.

Tom "Sully" Sullivan resides in Falls Church, VA, where he is the president of The Fairfax Architects, P.C.

Younkins Wins Outstanding Educator Award

Ed Younkins
Dr. Edward W. Younkins, chair of the business administration department at Wheeling Jesuit University, received the Outstanding Educator Award for 1997 from the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
The honor was presented in a ceremony at the CPA organization's Project Group Day Awards Ceremony in Charleston. By winning, Younkins becomes eligible for the national American Institute of Certified Public Accountants award.
The Outstanding Educator Award is given on the basis of a lifetime of achievement in accounting education, including teaching abilities, education innovation and influence on students.
To qualify, a nominee must be a CPA, a member of the WVSCPA or holder of a doctoral degree and a current full-time accounting educator at a West Virginia post-secondary institution with at least a 20-year career. Nominees must also be distinguished for excellence in classroom teaching and motivating students, must have contributed to the accounting profession by active involvement in professional activities such as accounting organizations and must be educators who are known for their teaching abilities but who are now primarily involved in administration or research.
Younkins has been employed at Wheeling Jesuit since 1972 and has been a department chair since 1976. He is also director of the university's Master of Business Administration program and its new Master of Science in Accountancy program.
