Alumni Chapter Development

Thank you, for your motivation and commitment to start an alumni chapter in your area.  The WJU Office of Alumni Relations is excited that you and fellow alumni are focusing on an action such as this.   

There are standards and guidelines which need adhered to before a chapter is ready to be formed.  It takes dedication to start a chapter, so the WJU Alumni Office wants to make sure a chapter is feasible for your area.  The following steps will outline for you the process by which a chapter becomes reality.

Step 1 Notify the Wheeling Jesuit University Alumni Office regarding your desire to start a chapter in your area.

Step 2 The Alumni Office will be able to establish how many alumni are living in your area.  The benchmark for starting a chapter is approximately 25 50.

Step 3 Once it has been determined that there is a sufficient alumni population to support a chapter, a survey (attached) can be sent to all those listed, in order to determine interest.

Step 4 Once interest is determined, an organizational group will be selected.  This group will hold a meeting at which time the chapter will be established and officers elected.  The chapter will be recognized by WJU once all of the necessary guidelines have been fulfilled and necessary paperwork filed with the WJU Office of Alumni Relations.  The organizational meeting will also be used to determine what direction the chapter should go in terms of signature events, social gatherings, fundraisers, etc.

Five key guidelines have been established to ensure the successful collaboration between chapter groups around the country and the Office of Alumni Relations.  In order to be a recognized chapter of Wheeling Jesuit, adherence to the following guidelines is essential.

Official Chapter Group Guidelines

1. Host at least two organized events a year (all official activities must be registered with the WJU Alumni Office)
a.

Notify the Alumni Office ASAP of alumni events so that they can be placed on the Events Calendar.

 
2.  The WJU Alumni Office will assist with marketing these events. 
 a. We will help you with regard to data, publicity, invitations and attendance management
 
3. Provide important post-event information including:
a.  An article covering the event and photographs (this information will be posted on the alumni web page.)
b. Names, contacts and information of relevance for all attendees
 
4. Participate in regular correspondence with the Alumni Office to encourage chapter development between events
 
5. Identify and engage leaders in the area
