Julio Giulietti, S.J. Arrives at WJU and Holds First Press Conference
WHEELING, WV, Aug. 22, 2007 - The Rev. Julio Giulietti, S.J. arrived on the Wheeling Jesuit University campus in mid-August and greeted the press at a news conference held Monday, Aug. 20 in the National Technology Transfer Center auditorium.
The 1 p.m. news conference offered local media a chance to meet the eighth president of the Jesuit University and pose questions about his experience and vision for the only Catholic institution of higher education in the Mountain State.
Father Julio, as he prefers to be called, told the press that he welcomed this chance to lead the University.

U. S. News Ranks Wheeling Jesuit University Among Best Universities for Eleventh Consecutive Year Wheeling, WV, Aug. 17, 2007 - The 2008 edition of U.S.News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges" ranks Wheeling Jesuit University number 18 in the "Best Universities-Master's Category" in the South, making it the highest ranked college or university in West Virginia for 11 consecutive years. The University moved up in its ranking from last year by three spots.
"This ranking reflects the high academic standards and the commitment to excellence that is a hallmark of Jesuit education. We are pleased that U.S. News recognizes the hard work and dedication of our faculty and administrators who provide excellent educational opportunities to our students which celebrate the integral human development of mind, body and spirit,” said the Rev. Julio Giulietti, S.J., University president.

Alumni Honored in "Faces of the Future 2007"
The Wheeling News-Register recognized two Wheeling Jesuit alumni as young leaders who are making a difference in the Ohio Valley.
Jennifer Hornyak, '00 and Ohio Sen. Jason Wilson, '96 were profiled in this year's “Faces of the Future 2007” a special publication by the newspaper that profiled 30 young leaders, under the age of 40, who are making a difference in the Ohio Valley. Nominations for the distinction were made by bosses, co-workers and others from the community. Those profiled included attorneys, doctors, executives, educators, entrepreneurs, politicians, coaches and business leaders.

The University Unveils the Center for Professional and Graduate Studies and a New Master's Program
Wheeling, WV, July 31, 2007 - With a stronger focus on professional development, Wheeling Jesuit University has established the Center for Professional & Graduate Studies, formerly the Adult and Continuing Education Division.
At the same time, the Center for Professional & Graduate Studies announces a new program, the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL).
“There has been a consistent demand from our graduates for a master's program that is interdisciplinary and that can be completed while they maintain their job and life demands,” said Becky Forney, the Associate Dean of Adult Education, who has worked in the adult and continuing education division for the past 16 years. The new MSOL program builds on the disciplines of philosophy, social sciences, law, management, finance, psychology and research.

Dan Sancomb '98 Returns as Athletic Director and Head Men's Basketball Coach
WHEELING, WV, Aug. 1, 2007 - Former Cardinal star basketball player and men's assistant basketball coach Danny Sancomb has agreed to return to Wheeling Jesuit University, this time to do double duty as athletic director and head men's basketball coach. When Sancomb was last part of the Cardinal men's staff, the University dominated the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) with back-to-back 20-win seasons, only the second time in the school's basketball history.
He replaces Jay DeFruscio, who moved on to the NBA Indiana Pacers this past June as an assistant to head coach Jim O'Brien, also a former WJU men's basketball coach.

The Very Rev. Anthony Cincinnati '83 Appointed to Diocesan Administration
WHEELING, W.Va. -- University alumnus, the Very Rev. Anthony Cincinnati, V.F., was appointed both chancellor and vicar for Catholic education of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston by Bishop Michael J. Bransfield.
As chancellor, Father Cincinnati will be a member of the bishop's senior staff, serving as chief archivist and notary for the diocese. As vicar, Father Cincinnati will be liaison to the Department of Catholic Charities and to the Department of Catholic Schools, representing the bishop's ministry through the various teaching institutions and ministries of the diocese.

Remy Munasifi '03 Featured in the YouTube Democratic Presidential Debate
WHEELING, WV, July 23, 2007 - A recent graduate of Wheeling Jesuit's MBA program, Remy (Remey) Munasifi, was selected to take part in the CNN YouTube democratic presidential debate, held on Monday, July 23. Munasifi is a 2005 graduate and a resident of McLean, Va.
Billed by CNN as the "first time in presidential debate history, user-generated video will drive two unprecedented debates," the July 23 debate was held in Charleston, S.C. and included the Democratic candidates for president.

Physical Improvements to the WJU Campus
WHEELING, WV, July 25, 2007 - Summer time and the livin's easy - unless you're a university physical plant employee. For them, summer's a time to do the heavy work, like major improvements and campus updates.
