Greetings to My Alumni Family and Friends, This month’s newswire features stories about our alumni, our students and our University community. I hope you enjoy this edition. The WJU Board of Directors formerly announced that I ask that you join me in welcoming Fr. Guilietti to his new position. Please keep him in your prayers as he prepares to take over the leadership of our alma mater. We are saddened by the death of Rev. Joseph Hacala, S.J., past president of WJU. On February 19, Fr. Hacala passed away after a brave battle with amyloidosis. His service to Wheeling Jesuit and his home state, West Virginia, are well documented and his family's connection to Wheeling Jesuit runs deep. His brother Thomas '67, nephew Bob '84 and niece Catherine '85 are all graduates. Please join us as we pray for Father and his family. As the end of February draws near, keep in mind that our men’s and women’s basketball teams will once again play in the West Virginia Conference tournament in Charleston, which is scheduled for the end of February and beginning of March. If you can't attend the games, you can keep track the Cardinals during the tournament by logging onto the WVIAC Web cast site. As spring approaches, don’t forget to keep an eye on the alumni web site for upcoming alumni events in your area. Gatherings are planned locally, as well as across the country. I hope you can join us at one or more of the events. Alumni Weekend 2007 is just four months away. I hope you marked your calendar to join us June 22-24 for the reunion.
