Katie Torpey is a WGA, award-winning screenwriter with a master’s from UCLA Film School. She has worked in television and film for numerous studios and networks including FOX, Disney, ABC, Saban, and Universal. She has been a TV staff writer, sold several screenplays and has written and rewritten scripts for many A-list Hollywood production companies.

Universal bought her original script THE PERFECT MAN, which was released in theaters in June 2005 starring Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear. Katie wrote and directed the independent feature film TRUTH ABOUT KERRY, which she shot in County Kerry, Ireland starring Stana Katic (One of the Bond Girls in Quantum of Solace and Star of the ABC TV hit show Castle). Also she wrote the movie ON THE OTHER SIDE, which was shot in New York and India. It has won several film festival awards.

Katie recently finished her first book JUST BREATHE. It's a true story about a woman who hits rock bottom, and walks away from Hollywood, to find herself while losing 130 pounds. This was a story very close to Katie’s heart since it is a story about her own life. It is in bookstores now.

Katie was a winner of the prestigious Dreamworks/UCLA "Diane Thomas Screenwriting Award" as well as a finalist in the well-respected Chesterfield Screenwriting competition.

During her time at Wheeling Jesuit, she was a stand out with the women’s soccer team.
