Following that merger, the COO position sat vacant until Hogel was elected by a board of directors to fill the role in late 2008. Prior to becoming COO, Hogel moved up the ranks during her 12 years at Duquesne Light, serving in a number of roles including vice president of legal matters; vice president of development, legal and administrative affairs; senior vice president of human resources and administration; and senior vice president and chief legal and administrative officer. Prior to leaving Dequense Light she managed a diverse, regional staff of nearly 1,000 union and non-union employees in operations, legal and environmental services, rates and regulatory affairs, governmental affairs, human resources/benefits, communications, community relations, residential/commercial/industrial customer services, facilities, and safety and workforce development. She is a member of the board of directors of the Pittsburgh Mercy Foundation, the YMCA of Pittsburgh and Three Rivers Youth. With the YMCA, she serves as the 2nd vice president and chair of the planning committee. In addition to her bachelor's degree from Wheeling Jesuit, Hogel has a juris doctor degree from the University of Pittsburgh. |
