Class of 1971 member Bill Cecil serves as senior vice president for sales at CBS Television in New York City. His professional career spans four decades since his graduation from Wheeling Jesuit University all within the advertising industry.

The last 33 years have been spent at the CBS Television Network in various senior management positions. Cecil joined CBS in 1977 as director of Sales Proposals for the television network. His responsibilities included all advertising pricing on the CBS network. He was promoted to vice president of Sales Planning in 1982. In this new position, Cecil oversaw all approvals for advertising purchased in primetime, sports, daytime and late night.

In 1998, Cecil was promoted to his current position of senior Vice president program sales. His responsibilities include the sale of advertising time in specials, as well as marketing and promotion of specials on the CBS Television Network. He oversees such programs as: The Hallmark Hall of Fame, The Kennedy Center Honors and The People’s Choice Awards, just to name a few.

Cecil is a 1971 graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and attended the CBS School of Management. He and his wife Mary Jo, also a WJU graduate, reside in New York City. They have four children. Their two sons, Jeremy, ‘95 and Tom ‘00, are in the advertising business.  And they have two daughters, Mandy and Bonnie.
