Documentation and Plagiarism

Writing successful college research papers is too hard to do without help.  There are too many variables, too many places to make mistakes.  Below are links to ARC handouts and to websites you will find invaluable as you continue through the process.  Don't procrastinate on research papers.  The staff at Bishop Hodges Library is ready to help you get started in locating sources.  And as always, ARC writing tutors are available to work with you on the form and documentation of any paper you're writing for any class at WJU.

Research and Documentation Online
Diana Hacker has published several of the very best, clearest reference texts on college writing currently available.  If you're serious about writing well in college and beyond, you should invest in A Writer's Reference or, if on a tighter budget, A Pocket Style Manual.  Use this link to her website for a thorough description of the basics of MLA, APA, and Chicago documentation styles.

KnightCite
Calvin College has created a citation engine that allows you to feed in pertinent data to create finished citations.  However, this resource should not be used in isolation, however tempting that might be!  Even they recommend a visit to Diana Hacker's website (see above) for details about the rationale for bibliographical form and how it all should look on the page -- and more important, how and when to use sources.
