As the Cardinal Baseball Program enters it’s third season,
progress continues to be steady. The experiences our players have gained over
the past two years have proven to be very beneficial. With only one senior on
the 2008 roster, we are still a young team. As we mature as a team, we expect to
handle adversity better than we have in the past two seasons. Our physical
skills, as well as, our knowledge as it pertains to college baseball, have
greatly improved. We need to continue to develop consistent mental and emotional
The pitching staff returns and will
once again be our team’s strength. To support our staff, we must be able to play
solid defense and generate run support. Making the fundamental plays defensively
coupled with timely hitting, will compliment the effort of our pitching.
Our coaching staff has done an
outstanding job working with all our position players so as to continue to
develop their skills and “ baseball IQ”. Individual improvement as well as “team
chemistry” will be very important to the success of our team.
The 2008 schedule, once again,
proves to be very challenging. Consistent play, remaining injury-free, and daily
improvement will also be keys to our success. We accept the challenge and look
forward to the 2008 season.
