WVIAC Men's Golf Championship Opens On Monday
WVIAC Staff
10/14/2007
(PRINCETON, W.VA)---Defending NCAA Division II East Region
champion Fairmont State is the top seed as play begins on Monday at the WVIAC
Men's Golf Championship. The Falcons have a pair of tournament titles so far
this fall, including a WVIAC record 20-under par effort at the WVIAC Central
Regional.
Preseason favorite Ohio Valley, West Liberty State, Concord, and defending
champion Charleston hold down the second through fifth seeds. Charleston
captured last season's WVIAC championship in a playoff over Ohio Valley.
This season's conference tournament features a new venue and date. The
championship, which has traditionally been held in the spring at Cacapon State
Park, moves to the Stonewall Resort's Palmer Course. The 7,149 yard, par-72
layout is ranked 23rd among the nation's top 100 resort courses by Golfweek
magazine and should provide a stern test to WVIAC linksters.
