WJU Captures WVIAC Women's Golf Championship
DAVIS,
WV, April 28, 2007 — Wheeling Jesuit University
captured their second consecutive WVIAC women's golf championship
with a 17-stroke victory over runner-up Ohio Valley at Canaan Valley
Resort.
OVU's Sabrina Link (120) edged teammate Anne-Clarie
Tans (121) by one shot for individual medalist honors during the
27-hole event. Wheeling Jesuit's Marisa Wiethe placed third with a
126 total, while West Liberty State's Vicki Adderley and Amanda
Smith shot matching 127's for a fourth place tie.
WJU's team total of 552 outdistanced Ohio
Valley's 569. West Liberty State (596) and Fairmont State (633)
rounded out the top half of the eight-team field.
Adderley was named the WVIAC Player of the
Year. Smith (WLSC), Sara Hicks (WJU), Heather Cudmore (FSU), and
Stephany Krieg (WJU) comprised the remainder of the five-player
all-conference squad.
