Bill Vasko

Head Coach

Bill Vasko will be entering his second season at the helm of the Lady Cardinal Softball program.  During his initial campaign, the Cards finished 23-24 overall and 10-10 in the WVIAC, good for 6th place out of 15 teams.  The Cards also ended the season strong as they finished in 3rd place in the conference tournament, losing to champion WV Wesleyan in the semi-finals, 8-7.

Prior to taking over at WJU, Vasko was employed at Buckeye Trail High School, where he served as athletic director, teacher, and softball coach. During his time with the Buckeye Trail softball program, Vasko helped lead the Lady Warrior’s to one of their most successful runs in school history.  Over a four-year span, the softball program established the second highest mark for wins in a season and tied the mark for most wins in a four-year period.  The program also won two sectional championships, one Pioneer Valley Conference championship, and was runners-up in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC) tournament in 2008.  The program also produced two All-Ohio players and three players who continued their careers at the college level.

Prior to coaching and teaching at Buckeye Trail, Vasko spent time as an assistant football and baseball coach at the Division III college level.  He spent four seasons as an assistant coach and strength coordinator for the Muskingum College baseball program, where he helped the Muskies tie the school record for wins in a season in 2001.  He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach and strength coordinator for the Kenyon College baseball program where he helped the Lords establish a school record for wins in a season in 1998.

In addition to his baseball coaching experience, Vasko has also been an assistant football coach with Kenyon College, Denison University, Otterbein College, and Ohio Wesleyan University.  He also spent one season as an undergraduate assistant coach with The Ohio State University football program.

Vasko is a 1994 graduate of The Ohio State University, earning a degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.  He earned his master's degree in secondary education/educational leadership from Muskingum College in 2002.
