Luke Janssen Named Preseason All-American
2010 Season Outlook
BALTIMORE, MD. – Inside Lacrosse magazine recently released their list of preseason All-America honorees. Senior captain, midfielder Luke Janssen, was selected to the Honorable Mention All-American team. Janssen posted a .559 face-off percentage, helping his team get many important possessions and plays with a lot of heart. Jesuit does not rely on Luke to be a big goal scorer but they rely on him to win face-offs, play great defense, and be great on groundballs. In 2009 Janssen helped his team to the best finish in years with an 8-4 record.
Wheeling Jesuit opens the 2010 season with ECC opponent 8th ranked Molloy College on February 28th in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The game will start at noon. Jesuit will play five teams that are ranked in the nations top ten. Wheeling Jesuit has the most difficult strength of schedule in NCAA Division II for the 2010 season.
Head Coach Jay Sothoron on Luke Janssen, “I am very proud of Luke for receiving the honor of preseason All American. It is difficult for guys who don’t score a lot to receive such an honor, but it just shows what we as a coaching staff along with opposing coaches think of Luke. He is a captain who leads by example giving 100% every time he steps on the field. We hope Luke has a great senior year and helps our team to many victories”
