Thirteen Cardinals Score in 22-3 Win Over Grand Canyon

Wheeling, WV, April 3, 2009--- The Wheeling Jesuit Lacrosse offense exploded for 22 goals on 55 shots Friday night.  Thirteen Cardinals scored in the offensive outburst.  Colin Jack started the scoring 56 seconds into the game, scoring two in the first quarter and three on the night.  Kyle Lucas also scored two in the first quarter and ended with a three goal performance.  Jeff Arneson and five other players reached the back of the net, giving the Cardinals an 8-1 lead at the end of the first. 

The offense slowed down in the second quarter.  Charles Joyce scored the first goal of the period and fed a pass to John Miller for the other.  Joyce had three goals and three assists, while Miller had two goals and three assists on the evening.  The Cardinals led 10-1 at the break. 

After halftime, WJU blew up for eight more goals by eight different players.  Jack Malone had one of his two goals in the third and also dealt one of his five assists to John Dunbar, who scored twice for the Cards.  Trevor Veres, Shawn Grimm and Mike Jacques shots were all on target, increasing Cardinal lead to sixteen (18-2).  Jack, Lucas and Joyce also scored in the third.

Tim Priskey scored his first collegiate goal and the final goal of the night on a beautiful lefty shot from close range.  Justin Baltzer and Dan Petraglia also accounted for two goals in the fourth quarter.

Goalies Joe Sims and Tony Tatro split the duties for the night, both having four saves.  Sims recorded the win.

The Cardinals will travel to the University of Detroit Mercy on Saturday, April 11th for a 2:00 p.m. start.
