Habitat for Humanity
Wheeling, WV. January 19, 2008---Members of the Wheeling Jesuit University Men's Lacrosse Team spent back to back weekends in November helping to build a new Habitat for Humanity House that will soon be finished in Triadelphia, WV. They spent most of their time framing exterior walls of the house and performing odd jobs which needed to be completed.
In early December, the Men's Lacrosse Team continued their service to the community by sponsoring five children for Christmas who are in need. Each lacrosse player purchased appropriate gifts. Doing this provided these children a Christmas they would not have received otherwise. Coach Sothoron stated, "Our kids are very fortunate to come from great families that have provided them with nice things. I wanted our players to be aware that there are many people in the community who are not as fortunate as we are. I believe if you can help those in need, you should do so. Being members of a Jesuit University it is, our mission to give back to the community. Hopefully, our players' community service is something that will continue once they have graduated. I am very proud of our student/athletes for their time and effort helping those in need. I am sure the kids who received our gifts are grateful. I hope we provided them with a Christmas they will remember. We have only scratched the surface, and we will continue to help with community projects."
