Cardinals Hold On for the Win

Shepherdstown, WV, Dec. 1, 2009---Freshman Andre Harris poured in 17 points as Wheeling Jesuit (3-1, 2-0) held off Shepherd (0-4, 0-2) 60-57.  Freshman Recardo Gaddy added a dozen points for the Cardinals while sophomore Obi Ukwuoma tallied ten.

In the first half, the Cardinals and the Rams saw the lead change seven times in the back-and-forth battle. The Cardinals held a three point advantage at the break and held on for the victory by as many points.

In the closing seconds of the game, Harris intercepted a pass and knocked down a free throw to give the Cards a three point advantage with 17 ticks left on the clock. They shot 48% (24-50) from the field for the game, which included a 58% shooting performance in the second half draining on 14 of 24.

The Wheeling Jesuit men's basketball team will travel to Greensburg, PA for their third conference contest against Seton Hill University. Tip off is set for 6:00 p.m.
