WJU Men Top Wesleyan to Stay Unbeaten in WVIAC
Wheeling, WV, Sept. 16, 2009---The Wheeling Jesuit Men's Soccer Team (4-1-1, 2-0) squared off against conference rival WV Wesleyan College (2-4, 1-1) Wednesday night at James LaRosa Stadium.
The Cardinals scored three minutes left in the second overtime period to stay unbeaten in conference play.
The Bobcats started the scoring in the 14th minute when Brett Fackenthal scored off a pass from Alister Fleming. They lead for the entire first period. Both teams attempted eight shots and played aggressive defense. Wheeling Jesuit committed nine fouls to Wesleyan's seven in the period.
WJU continued to attack the net and play physical defense. In the 77th minute TJ O'Brien tied the game with a 20 yard shot off a pass from Dominic Welsh.
In the first overtime period, the Cardinals out shot the Bobcats 3-0 but failed to score.
In the 108th minute, Hans Moses played the ball to Billy Wilson near the right post. Wilson sent a header to the back of the net for the game-winner.
Wheeling Jesuit will travel to Urbana University on Sunday for a 3:00 p.m. non-conference match.
