Campanelli Qualifies for Nationals with Second Best Division II 800 Meter Time
Sarah Campanelli (So., Gahanna, OH) ran the second best Division II Indoor 800 Meter to date at this past weekend’s Akron Invitational. She ran 2:10.27 and placed third as the only Division II athlete in the event. This topped the school record of 2:16.67 which she set as a freshman in 2008.
Sarah will automatically qualify for the 2009 NCAA Indoor Nationals in the 800 meter and currently holds a provisional mark for the mile with a time of 5:02.38, which is also a school record. Nationals will be held on March 13th -14th at the University of Houston in Houston, TX.
The men’s 4 x 400 meter relay team also set a provisional qualifying mark at the Akron Invitational. Travis McKinley (Fr., Wheeling, WV), Wes Eades (Fr., Bridgeport, WV), Jason Forrester (Jr., Parkersburg, WV), and Andre Walcott (Sr.,Port of Spain, Trinidad )set a mark of 3:18.03 which is currently 15th in Division II. The top nine times will qualify for the National Meet. |
