Schedule Set For WVIAC Softball Tournament

Princeton, WV, April 27, 2009---Pairings are complete for the 2009 WVIAC Softball Tournament.  The twelve-team, double elimination event gets underway on Thursday morning at Jackson Park in Vienna.  The championship game is set for Saturday afternoon with the winner gaining an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional.

Regular season champion West Virginia Wesleyan owns the top seed.  The Bobcats have won 11 consecutive contests to close out their regular season.  Other top seeds earning first round byes are #2 Fairmont State, #3 Alderson-Broaddus, and #4 Seton Hill.

Defending champion West Virginia State is the fifth seed and will face #12 Ohio Valley.  Other opening round matchups include: #6 Wheeling Jesuit versus #11 Davis & Elkins, #7 Glenville State versus #10 West Liberty, and #8 Charleston versus #9 Shepherd.  Bluefield State, Concord, and Salem International failed to qualify for the event.
